4.5 STARS

I ordered the complete 400 watt system ($1470) through Amazon (WindyNation Is a 3rd party dealer). That 12/24 volt system included four 100W solar panels, charge controller, four 12v 100AH batteries, and included wire and connectors, etc. and shipping costs. This system did not include the inverter, but I ordered that separately to meet my needs.

My first worry, it was being shipped via UPS with only one package (tracking number) listed. UPS will not deliver any package over 100lbs, so I sent an email to WindyNation customer service. Within 20 minutes I got a reply that said the delivery is actually divided up into 5 packages. I was given the 5 tracking numbers and weight, 97lbs for the solar panel/controller package, and 66lbs for each of the 4 batteries.

Delivery was made 4 days later by UPS. All the boxes looked okay from the outside, so I signed for the delivery. The contents of the solar panel package were fine. I then opened the... Read more

This review is from: WindyNation 400 Watt Solar Kit: 4pcs 100 Watt Solar Panels + 30A P30L LCD PWM Charge Controller + Mounting Hardware + 40ft Cable + MC4 Connectors. RV's, Boats, Cabins, Camping Off-Grid
This is my second solar system that I've installed and used. My first was the Renogy 200 Watt system that I put on our 19 ft RV. It performed flawlessly. High quality components and never an issue to report. We got a larger 25 ft trailer and I wanted to get a 400 watt system that would have a better time keeping up with the kids' TV watching on cloudier days with less sun. I saw the WindyNation kit at a slightly lower price and it included more cable than Renogy and had a digital CC. Reviews seemed good so I pulled the trigger. Upon removing the components, I noticed right away a lower quality of materials vs the Renogy system I had. I especially noticed this with the charge controller and the included cable. The cable insulation was literally half the thickness as the Renogy cable. I knew this because I had some left over and could compare side to side. Next, the charge controller was lightweight flimsy plastic. It looked like a cheap toy from China. This charge... Read more

After a few anxious moments, and two calls to support, all works better than expected. I had switched polarity at the controller, which caused toe controller to indicate there was no input from the panels. It would be helpful if this problem was mentioned in the troubleshooting list.
My batteries were down to 40% at sun-up when the panels began charging (4 panels). By noon, the batteries were fully charged.. This was WAY faster than I expected. Our camp is in the shade, but there is one part of the roof that gets full sun for 70% of the day, if it's not cloudy. We will be adding more panels and batteries as we add more appliances. Right now it powers house lights, toaster, coffee maker and some power tools during the day. VERY happy.
